Precautionary Boil Advisory

News Posted on August 21, 2025

(BRANSON, MO, August 21, 2025) The City of Branson is issuing a Precautionary Boil Advisory for all the customers who experienced a water outage due to the recent water break located in downtown Branson.

These are most commonly issued for water main breaks or other low-pressure events where water loss was not controlled, and the possibility of contamination intrusion exists.  The conditions of water break located in downtown Branson led to a loss of pressure in the distribution system, but a problem has not been confirmed.

The Precautionary Boil Advisory is being issued while waiting for results of confirmation samples collected for bacteriological analysis, which can take up to two days. We will post notification when the boil advisory has been lifted.

Bring all water to a rolling boil for at least (3) three minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. You should throw away ice made during the time the advisory or notice was issued, as freezing does not kill bacteria.

Precautions to take:

  • Boil water vigorously for three minutes, then cool prior to use. Use only water that has been boiled for drinking, diluting fruit juices, all other food preparation and brushing teeth.
  • Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic ice maker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.
  • Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water. Note: Let water cool sufficiently before drinking

We will post notification when the boil advisory has been lifted.
