[ARCHIVED] Branson Parks to Install 100% Recycled Benches & Tables

Recycled Bench Example

The Branson Parks and Recreation Department will be adding several benches and picnic tables throughout City parks that are produced with 100% recycled materials, including a minimum of 40% of the material being scrap tire rubber generated right here in Missouri.

The Branson Parks Department has been awarded the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Non-Playground Scrap Tire Grant which will provide the $6,060 to purchase seven new picnic tables and three new benches that will be installed in City parks this Fall. The parks included are:

  • Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area
  • The new inclusive playground at the Branson RecPlex, which will include a handicap accessible table
  • The new extension of hard surface trail connecting North Beach Park and the Roark Creek Trail

The DNR Non-Playground Scrap Tire Grant is offered annually or bi-annually based on available funds and assists communities with funding for projects that are produced with recycled materials.

The City of Branson is grateful for this grant that will help them in a city-wide effort to utilize sustainable materials whenever possible, as well as help the Parks Department continue to provide quality recreational experiences throughout our community, making Branson a great place to live, work and play.

A picture of what the benches will look like is attached to this story.
