Branson Police Confirm Restoration of 9-1-1 Service Availability to Verizon Wireless Customers of Branson and Taney County
Branson, MO (August 22, 2017) – As of 7:30 a.m., Verizon reported to the City of Branson that 9-1-1 emergency service has been restored to its customers in Branson and Taney County. The Branson Police Department has confirmed that calls are successfully being received through dispatch from Verizon wireless customers via the 9-1-1 system.
Earlier this morning, it was reported that the 9-1-1 service outage was caused by a cut in a fiber optic line, causing a complete outage of the 9-1-1 emergency phone system, later updating that only Verizon Wireless customers were impacted by the outage. The outage was reported to have involved an area comprised of four counties including Taney, Stone, Christian, and Dade Counties of Southwest Missouri.
At 7:50 a.m., the Branson Police Department tested the system and has since confirmed that 9-1-1 emergency services are working properly for all network providers in Taney County, including the city of Branson..
