Corner of Pacific Street & Veterans Boulevard in Historic Downtown Branson
Branson, Mo. – Residents and visitors are invited to a community celebration as the City of Branson unveils the newest addition to its city parks. Located at the corner of Pacific Street and Veterans Boulevard in Historic Downtown Branson, the event will kick off at 4:00PM on Thursday, July 20.
Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, the event will feature entertainment and activities with an ‘Ice Cream & Sweet Treats Social’ – a community gathering designed to reflect the rich heritage that gave birth to what has become the bustling tourism destination attracting millions of visitors each year. For more than a century, Branson has continued to build upon values of family, faith, friends, flag and future all of which are represented at the new Liberty Plaza.
As a tribute to the entertainment legacy that was founded in downtown Branson, the third generation Mabe family and Branson’s Famous Baldknobbers will perform at the event in honor of the Baldknobbers Jamboree, the first music show to open in downtown Branson in 1959. Branson’s Famous Baldknobbers will be joined by additional performances with Family Anthem (the band of the Jory Rolf family) and Prince Ivan. Edd Akers will share his own story of Branson’s past, present and future.
A marble hunt will take place in with downtown merchants in Phases 2 and 3 similar to that which generated widespread participation to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 in August 2016. Marble hunters may check in at the Centennial Museum at 10:00AM to pick up their clue cards to begin the marble hunt for at least 20 specialty hand-blown glass marbles. Winners will be announced and the grand prize awarded during the Ice Cream & Sweet Treat Social at 4:00PM at Liberty Plaza Park. The hunt will be hosted and coordinated courtesy of Cherry & BJ Ussery of Marbles Lost & Found, along with group administrators Autumn Gross and Jen Drake. Participants may join the Marbles Lost & Found Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1678264345819796/.
In collaboration with members of the Streetscape Steering Committee, Downtown Business Betterment Association (DBBA), the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, the event will provide games and activities for children, and additional entertainment provided courtesy of Summerwinds Resorts, Taney County Health Department, and Dick’s 5 & 10 – the famous merchant celebrating its 56th anniversary this month. Ice cream and other treats will be provided courtesy of Hiland Dairy, Dick’s 5 & 10, the Branson Fire Department, and more.
FREE PARKING will be available to all attendees at the Branson Convention Center Parking
Garage, courtesy of the Branson Convention Center/SMG.
This event is FREE TO THE PUBLIC, so BRING A LAWN CHAIR and come be a part of the past, present and future of Branson as the community works together to carry on the legacy of Branson.
