Branson-Hollister Lions Club Awarded the City of Branson 2017 Green Initiative Award
Branson, MO (April 26, 2017) – The City of Branson is proud to announce the recipient of the 2017 Green Initiative Award for its efforts in recycling, conservation and sustainability. The award is given to area businesses and community members who demonstrate significant ‘green practices’ that contribute to the environment.
Congratulations to the Branson-Hollister Lion’s Club, the recipient of the 2017 Green Initiative award for excellence in recycling practices as presented during the regular Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
Four years ago, the organization implemented recycling on Bingo night each week which generated 2.5 tons of clean paper annually. Today, they have recycled 10 tons of paper and cardboard, and have eliminated the use of Styrofoam cups. These green and sustainable practices have reduced their costs by more than $11,000, which they now use to fund two annual local scholarships, hearing aids and eye glasses for those in need, and community organizations.
Applications for the 2018 Green Initiative Awards are now available online at: www.bransonmo.gov.
