MEDIA ALERT

Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge Event to be Held at Branson Landing May 5-6, 2017

Branson, MO (April 9, 2017) – In collaboration with the Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Branson Firefighters Association and the IAFF Local will be hosting the SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge® at Branson Landing May 5-6, 2017.

Internationally acclaimed as the toughest two minutes in sports, this is an exciting and highly competitive sports event that has been covered by ESPN for over 12 years. The event draws thousands of fire & rescue participants from around the world to compete in two-minute sprints wearing "full bunker gear" and the Scott 5.5 Air-Pak breathing apparatus. Competitors race head-to-head as they simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting, performing a linked series of five challenges in which they climb a 5-story tower while hoisting, chopping and dragging hoses, then rescue a life-sized, 175-lb. ‘victim’ as they race against the clock and their opponent.

In addition to the firefighter challenge, the community can participate in the Community & Corporate Challenge that will take place on the same course as the pros, a Kid’s Combat challenge (ages 4-11), a Fire Truck Parade, Safety Vendor Fair, and the NEW 2017 “Guns & Hoses” Challenge. A complete schedule of events can be found at: www.BransonLanding.com

“We are very excited to bring the SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge to Branson again this year, giving us the opportunity to recognize the work of hometown defenders in fire and rescue services from across America, while promoting Firefighter Appreciation Month,” said City of Branson Mayor Karen Best. “Our community values those who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect their citizens. Every door throughout Branson is open to these participants and spectators, so I encourage them all to experience the Ozark Mountain hospitality we extend at our shows and attractions, retail centers and restaurants, and outdoor activities while visiting our area.”

Mark your calendar and plan to attend or compete in the corporate challenge this year at the SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge Event at Branson Landing May 5-6, 2017.

Sponsors of the event are the Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau and Branson Landing.
