Branson Main Street Reopens as Construction Completes Ahead of Schedule

Branson, MO (March 3, 2017) – The City of Branson is pleased to announce that as of 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 02, 2017, construction has been completed on Main Street in Downtown Historic Branson. While the corners at Commercial and Main Street are still being bricked, Main Street has reopened to motorists allowing thru traffic to Branson Landing Boulevard. Access signals at Veterans and Main are now operational and cones have been removed. Work continues on sidewalks on both sides of Commercial to the south and, weather permitting, the project is still tracking to be completed by middle of March in this area.

While this portion of the project finished ahead of schedule and sidewalks are anticipated to be completed in the next two weeks, the terms of the contract require the contractor to return closer to the May completion date to install the street lights and bolt down the outdoor furnishings.

In a statement received from Jessica Luthardt of the Downtown Business Betterment Association, “Downtown stakeholders and business owners are so excited to once again have storefront parking available to their patrons, and the new brick intersection looks beautiful! We thank the City of Branson and contractors for all their hard work and commitment to our Downtown Streetscape Project!”

City of Branson Engineer David Miller added, “We are very pleased with the productivity and efficiency of this contractor as they have performed way beyond our expectations to bring the downtown renovation back on track. This is a refreshing change from that which we had experienced in the previous phase of development. With Spring Break and the spring tourism season just around the corner, we are very pleased that the weather cooperated to allow the contractor to wrap this up so that visitors can park in front of businesses and pedestrians can enjoy downtown on the new sidewalks.”

As a reminder, all businesses are open in and pedestrian access is available in the remaining construction zones.
