As the City of Branson has picked up the pace of construction along Hwy 76, we are proud to announce that the first new sidewalk is complete on the south side between Ozarkland and Shoot for the Stars Mini-Golf!
Barricades have been removed to better accommodate visitors traveling through town for the holidays, and pedestrians shopping for Branson's best Black Friday deals at Tanger Outlets can enjoy the the new sidewalk! The 8-foot wide textured sidewalks are desert tan in color, and are nearly twice the width of the former sidewalk. This section of sidewalk runs 400 feet from Francis to Ellen Streets, and work on the next section will commence on Monday November 28 following the busy Thanksgiving weekend. All surface improvements are expected to be complete by May in Phase 1A between Presleys' Theater west to Ripley's Believe-It-Or-Not Museum.
City Administrator Bill Malinen says "New, decorative sidewalks are an integral part of the vision to enhance the 5-mile long Hwy 76 corridor. We want visitors to enjoy all that Branson has to offer on foot, getting out of the traffic to explore and play along the corridor which is the focal point of tourism attractions, entertainment venues and hospitality services."
The 76 Revitalization Project plans to enhance this 5-mile iconic highway from downtown Branson to Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, a project that includes not only new extra-wide, ADA-compliant sidewalks, but also underground utilities, lighting and landscaping following a "Let's Play" theme throughout.
So, if visiting or shopping in Branson this weekend, please note that all construction zones have been cleared so that you can enjoy your time along Hwy 76!
