The 2014 Branson Green Initiative Award winners were announced and presented with awards at a Board of Aldermen meeting at City Hall. Three award winners were selected for their impressive sustainability achievements and commitment to Branson's sustainability efforts.
Branson United Methodist Church for their efforts in Sustainability.
The church has worked on numerous project at Lakeside Forest. A connector trail now allows hiker’s access to Lake Taneycomo without using the stairs that once was the only path to the lake. The church has also worked on the ridge trail above the lake that will eventually connect to the City’s trail system. The church has fasten over 120 metallic medallions on storm sewers throughout the downtown area and Pointe Royale.
Hansen Tree Service for their efforts in Recycling Yard Waste.
Hansen's have provided assistance with the Earthwise Recycling Center in addition to composting project between Earthwise, Silver Dollar City and Reeds Spring Schools.
Chuck Zehnder for his devotion to the Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area.
Since 2010, Mr. Zehnder has dedicated his time in repairing the 300 stone steps on the park's property. He worked with the City Parks staff to determine the best location for the new half mile "Bent Tree Loop" connector trail along the shoreline of Lake Taneycomo.
