Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons are available throughout the summer for youth beginning at age 18 months. A list of classes and times can be found below.  To register on-line for swim lessons, click here.

Parent & Toddler Swim

This class will teach all the basics of blowing bubbles, floating, and going underwater. In addition, your child will start to work on jumping in and rolling over front to back and beginning arm strokes.    

Games are introduced to help learn the skills in a fun atmosphere. The instructor will work individually with child to succeed in learning the skills and the parent in how to help. Only one child per adult in the water, however both parents may attend class with one or two children.

Child needs to wear a swimmer diaper.

Parent & Preschool Swim Lessons

Skills learned in this class will include comfort in the water, bubble blowing, basic breath control, introduction to front and back float with assistance, beginning arm stroke and backstroke and jumping in the water. One parent per child is required to be in the water.

Learn to Swim Level I – Introduction to Swimming

Swimmers must be 5 years or older to participate. Emphasizes comfort in the water, good attitude, and safe practices in and around the water. Class objectives include putting face in the water, bobbing, front and back glide with kick, and floating on back unassisted.

Learn to Swim Level II – Fundamental Water Skills

Prerequisite: Swimmers must pass Level I or be completely comfortable in the water.

Child will perform locomotion skills using both arms and legs on front (crawl) and back (beginner back stroke). Other skills include rhythmic breathing, explore and tread deeper water, demonstrate basic rescue skills and basic CPR.

Age: 5 -7
Times: Mon-Thur, 10:00am-10:30am (See below for evening class times)

Age: 8-10
Times: Mon-Thur, 10:30am-11:00am (See below for evening class times)

Learn to Swim Level III – Stroke Development

Prerequisite: Swimmers must pass Level II or be able to swim unassisted in deep water and successfully complete the following: (1) child must be able to swim 10 yards on front or back; and (2) child must be able to jump into chest deep water unassisted.

Child learns to coordinate front and back crawls with rhythmic breathing. Other skills include elementary backstroke, reverse direction, submerge and retrieve an object in deep water, dive from the side of the pool, rescue skills and be familiar with CPR.

Private Swim Lessons

Junior Lifeguard Training

Youth ages 12-15 years wanting to learn what is expected of a lifeguard can join us for a one-week training session. The goal of this aquatics program is to “wet” the appetites of youth who may not have considered lifeguarding as part of their future. All participants are required to demonstrate competent swimming ability. Skills will be tested on the first night of the class. Attendance is mandatory at all classes. CPR, First Aid, and Safety Techniques are also demonstrated in this course.
